Sometimes I wonder why I named my blog Twice In A Lifetime.
I guess its kinda because I believe in the mindset that, if we let go of something that we don't need at that particular time, but you may want, there will always be another chance but at better circumstances. Well that's what I have gone through anyway. I gave up Japanese after 5th Form because my subjects clashed. Was I to choose Japanese or Accounting? Well, I dropped Japanese, and guess what, it was the best choice ever. I got to meet one of my favourite teachers - Trevor Weal, and I got into the world of business. I absolutely love it now! Some people ask me why I love it? Well, the answer isn't as rehearsed as to-be doctors or lawyers, and no way close to being as impressive either! Doctors can pull the classic "I want to save lives and see them smile for a bit longer." Or for lawyers, the classic, "I want to see justice in this world of injustice." Oh hush you people. Sure, what can we say? " I want to make money." To people who know business, of course that's good. But to the people who don't understand, their reactions are like "You're the reason why people in Africa are dying" or "You're the reason why there is AIDS running rampant in third world countries." I mean, WHAT? Is it wrong to love money? Well, that does sound wrong. Let me refurbish that broken question. Is it wrong to like the feeling of seeing reward of hard work? I mean, imagine me as a young Steve Jobs. I see potential in things that can be brought forward to the world as a consumer product. Sure I love consumerism. I fall for it, and I make people fall for it. Its a Love/Hate relationship.
Now, lets come back to sanity Ben. (Isn't it funny that I'm talking to myself about coming back to sanity? Isn't talking to yourself the first sign of insanity?....... TBC)
I put an Apple sticker on the back of my car today. So if you notice it, give me a high five.
Let me update you on what I've been doing.
So I sang at the opening Ceremony of the 2011 Rugby World Cup here in New Zealand. It was fun! I got to shake hands with and talk to Jonah Lomu. No one knew about the 'secret all star' except for us. I was in the 1st choir section, so at the front, singing really loud. I also recorded the song "World In Union" Arranged by Victoria Kelly for Hayley Westenra to sing. I was paid $300 for 4 hours of recording work. Great Money eh!
I've also gotten my love for photography going. My mum said to me that when I was a kid, I would always make a camera out of my hands and take pictures of everything haha. Cute, I know. Also that when mcdonalds (I refuse to give that shop capital letters, because now I despise what they do) had a fake kids camera toy that came out with the Happy Meal, I took that toy to everywhere I went. It broke in 2 weeks and I was distraught. I still remember what it looks like. And how it popped up! Even though it was like 13 years ago or something. The other camera story I remember was my first Digital Camera. It was one of those really bad Digital Cameras that didn't have a LCD or anything to see the picture you had taken. You had to connect it to your computer via USB to see the pictures. It came free with a year's subscription of the New Zealand Hearald. Did my family get it? No. So what did I do? I saved up my lunch money in Primary when I was year 6 everyday for like two weeks and bought it off my friend for $20. That was heaps back then! I loved it :) Then my love became serious. I got a Nikon D60 with a 18-55mm. Yes, DSLR Photography. I loved it. Just a few days ago I upgraded to a Nikon D90. I have 6 lenses altogether now, maybe one day I'll get into them more.
Update on friends? Well, Chris has been back from Otago. He's doing Health Science and wants to get into Medicine and become a Pediatrician. Good on him. I reckon he'll be an amazing doctor. He's got the mind of a genius, and when he puts his mind to it, its like wildfire. He's a really good friend as well. Someone you can really rely on. He's got a pure heart, and sometimes, that's all you need to look up to as a friend. I'll miss him even more when he goes back down to carry on with his studies in Dunedin.
Jono? He's on his mission now. He was called to Uruguay, Montevideo. South America you say? I KNOW RIGHT!? I miss him like heck. Although, being away from him for like the whole year kinda did lessen the blow I guess. We were like brothers. That does remind me, I need to send him a letter. I wish him all the best.
Caleb is in Italy at the moment. Travelled to Germany, Belgium, and I think he's heading to Japan next. He's a good boy. I like him. He's got a really pure heart as well. But something in me thinks that he has so much potential! I just want to see him start something that I know he would love and see him finish it. If you're reading this Caleb, you know I love you. I can't wait for you to start your career with something you love to do - Singing. I guess I share the same passion.
I guess that's all I've got for you now.
Thanks for reading. Hopefully soon I'll get to writing about more interesting matters than my life eh?
But till then,
Peace out
Song of the Day
Use Somebody - Kings of Leon
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnhXHvRoUd0&ob=av2n
I've been roaming around, I was looking down at all I see
Painted faces fill the places I can't reach
You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody
Someone like you and all you know and how you speak
Countless lovers under cover of the street
You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody
Someone like you
Off in the night while you live it up I'm off to sleep
Waging wars to shake the poet and the beat
I hope it's gonna make you notice
I hope it's gonna make you notice
Someone like me, someone like me
Someone like me, somebody
I'm ready now, I'm ready now
I'm ready now, I'm ready now
I'm ready now, I'm ready now
I'm ready now
Someone like you, somebody
Someone like you, somebody
Someone like you, somebody
I've been roaming around, I was looking down at all I see
